Protecting yourself against Identity Theft is always easier than having to clear your name!
When one thinks of Identity Theft, maybe too often one associates the concept with Financial Fraud, when the truth is that Identity Theft can enter into many areas of one’s life and it usually has long term radius consequences on the victim of such an act.
Identity Theft should be on one’s radar because despite financial distress, it could temper with one’s reputation, lead to wrongful arrests, impair job prospects and even cause medical errors thus jeopardizing one’s health and life.
A pretty extreme case of Identity Theft with various consequences, but yet as real as it gets, is the case of the Englishman Simon Bunce. His personal details were stolen while shopping online. He lost his job, his friends and father cut off contact, when he was arrested by the Hampshire Police on suspicion of possession of indecent images of children, downloading indecent images of children and incitement to distribute indecent images of children, after an ID impostor used his credit card details on a child porn website.
