The ISPAI ran a free seminar for all Internet Service Providers, both ISPAI members and non-members, on Thursday 18th February 2010. The seminar was aimed at owners and managers of ISP businesses offering public access, hosting or communication services in Ireland. The invitation letter which was sent to non-members by mail and e-mail is here. (48k)

There has never been so much European legislation and trade agreements pending which affect ISPs. Much of this puts the cost of implementing and operating proposed measures firmly on the shoulders of the ISPs.

The first example is the highly controversial "Data Retention Directive" now overdue for transposition in Irish law. But this isn't the end of it, there is a raft of EU proposals for directives and trade agreements to deal with organised cybercrime, terrorist radicalisation sites, copyright enforcement, ...... the list goes on.
