ISPAI Cookie Policy

Our website uses a number of cookies in order to improve user experience. We do not proactively place them on users’ computer (except cases outlined below) but some of the plugins of the WordPress platform that we use do.

There are only two first party cookies placed by our service:

1. A session cookie placed by the WordPress platform automatically, its purpose is to authenticate and authorize website administrators and does not affect a regular user of our website.

2. When you press “Hide this message” button on the cookie warning box, a cookie is placed in your browser for the box not to be shown to you again.

There are also several aplications that place their own cookies in your browser and we cannot be responsible for their use of cookies:

1. Google analytics is used to monitor the amount of traffic that our website gets.

2. AddToAny application provides sharing functionality for our blog items. It may place some additional cookies from third parties that are presented as the services to be shared to.

3. Twitter widget uses cookies to find out whether you are logged in.

Data Retention Directive is incompatible with EU citizens’ Right to Privacy says Advocate General

EU Advocate Generals give advice on specific areas of law to the European Court of Justice, who are due to rule in Feburary on two cases brought before the ECJ, on whether or not the current Data Retention Directive is compatible with the Charter of Fundamental Rights. These cases were joined together to deal with issues raised by Digital Rights Ireland and the Austrian Constitutional Court. (more…)

Internet Safety Talk – Mercy College, Coolock

The Internet Service Providers’ Association of Ireland was invited by Mercy College Coolock, to give a Talk to 20 transition year students as part of their 2013 Young Social Innovators Program. The students chose Internet Safety as an explorative subject because they felt the need to raise awareness among young people on Internet Safety issues.

Awareness Campaign – ISPAI Hotline.ie Service

The ISPAI Hotline.ie Service was launched in November 1999, to provide an anonymous reporting service to members of the public who accidentally uncover Illegal content on the Internet, particularly Child Sexual Abuse Material or activities relating to the sexual exploitation of children.

The establishment of the Hotline.ie Service within an Industry self-regulatory framework was one of (more…)
